The handbooks of the Alabama High School Athletic Association and the Alabama Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation were authorized by the State Board of Education and published by the Division of Physical and Health Education and later by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. They contain calendars of events, lists of officers and past presidents, the constitution and by-laws, honor awards, names of state chairmen, accreditment standards, a code of ethics, platforms, sports records, questions and answers, and other topics. Information about elementary school physical education activities is also included.
